Organized by Bioinnovo in Córdoba, the event brought together leading experts from the United States, Brazil, and Argentina. In addition, the event was part of a broader program that included a pre-congress in collaboration with IRAC, a workshop for laboratory technicians, and Vetanco’s institutional participation in SIRAC 2026.
Córdoba, August 2026. — During a week of intense scientific and professional activity, Vetanco and Bioinnovo carried out a comprehensive program of training, professional development, and knowledge exchange in Córdoba. In this regard, initiatives were aimed at various stakeholders involved in cattle health, diagnostics, and reproduction.
Furthermore, the activities were organized in collaboration with the Córdoba Institute of Animal Reproduction (IRAC) and took place at various venues throughout the city. These included SIRAC 2026—the 16th International Symposium on Animal Reproduction, one of the country’s leading events focused on animal reproduction, reproductive biotechnologies, and veterinary medicine.
4th International Congress on Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus
One of the week’s main events was the 4th International Congress on Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV). Organized by Bioinnovo, it was held on Wednesday, August 26, at the Córdoba Convention Center as part of SIRAC 2026.
Consequently, the congress brought together leading national and international specialists. They addressed one of the major health challenges in cattle production: immunosuppression associated with the BVDV and its impact on production.
In this framework, the event featured three leading experts in cattle research and health. From South Dakota State University, Dr. Christopher Chase presented “Immune dysfunction induced by BVDV and BoHV-1: Impacts on Cattle Production”. His presentation addressed the immune alterations caused by BVDV and bovine herpesvirus type 1, along with their consequences for production.
For his part, Dr. Pietro Sampaio Baruselli, from the University of São Paulo, spoke on the “Importance of Reproductive and Health Management in Beef Cattle Productivity”. Therefore, he focused on the relationship between management strategies, health, and production outcomes in cattle farming systems.
Rounding out the panel was Dr. Andrés Wigdorovitz, Director of INCUINTA (INTA), Scientific Director of Bioinnovo, and senior researcher at CONICET. He presented “The Productive Impact of Controlling Immunosuppression Caused by BVDV in Cattle”, delving into the productive implications of addressing this health issue.
Thus, the participation of specialists with diverse perspectives created a forum for updating knowledge and exchanging ideas on the impact of BVDV. Moreover, they highlighted the role of immunity and the importance of integrating health and reproductive strategies to improve the efficiency of cattle production systems.
Pre-Congress with IRAC on BVDV
As part of the week’s activities, on Tuesday, August 25, Vetanco and Bioinnovo held an International Pre-Congress on BVDV. This prior activity was organized together with the Córdoba Institute of Animal Reproduction (IRAC).
The event took place at the IRAC facilities and included an institutional presentation, a tour of the facilities, and a Reproductive Workshop. This workshop was led by Dr. Christopher Chase and Dr. Julián Bartolomé.
In this context, the meeting provided an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences regarding various challenges related to cattle health and reproduction. Furthermore, it fostered dialogue among the participating professionals.
The Laboratory as a Decision-Making Tool
On Wednesday, August 26, the workshop for laboratory technicians titled “The Laboratory as a Decision-Making Tool” was also held. Organized by Vetanco, it was aimed at professionals involved in diagnostics.
In this line, the event featured Dr. Christopher Chase of South Dakota State University in the United States and Dr. María José dus Santos, Research Area Coordinator at the Institute of Virology and Technological Innovations (IVIT).
During the workshop, diagnostic tools for strengthening health control were discussed. As a result, the strategic role of the laboratory as a source of information for more accurate and efficient decision-making was highlighted.
Institutional Presence at SIRAC 2026
In addition to the activities organized specifically around BVDV and diagnostics, Vetanco maintained an institutional booth throughout SIRAC 2026.
Throughout the various sessions of the symposium, the booth provided an opportunity to meet with professionals, clients, and industry leaders. Consequently, this strengthened exchanges and ties with the veterinary and scientific communities.
Participation in SIRAC thus complemented the initiatives driven by Vetanco and Bioinnovo. The presence provided a leading meeting forum for professionals involved in animal reproduction, reproductive biotechnologies, and veterinary medicine.
